Aim :
The Aged Care GP Panels Initiative is a project funded by the commonwealth for Divisions to work with GP's and Aged Care Homes (ACHs) to improve access to, and quality of medical care to residents, and to increase the participation of GPs in Aged Care.
The Aged Care GP Panel Initiative aims to ensure better access to primary medical care for residents of aged care homes and to enable GP's and allied health professionals to work with homes on quality improvement strategies for the care of all residents.
The Panels are designed to support GP's and allied health professionals to provide high quality primary care services within aged care homes. They will supplement, not replace, existing MBS arrangements.
The Panels Initiative has been expanded to include allied health professionals. The expansion to the Aged Care GP Panels Initiative was recently announced as part of the May 2007 Budget, Aged Care - improved health services for residents of aged care homes. For more information click here.
Divisions will be funded to undertake the local liaison, development, and administrative support work for this initiative.
The aim of the Aged Care GP Panels Initiative is to improve access to primary medical care for residents of aged care homes and to enable GP's to work with aged care homes to assist with quality improvement strategies for the care of all residents.
