RAMUS Scholarships – Rural Australia Medical Undergraduate Scholarship :
Rural students face considerable financial barriers to taking up tertiary education, particularly the costs of moving away from their family support structure and living in a city. RAMUS provides financial support to assist selected students from rural and remote areas to meet accommodation, living and travel costs incurred while studying medicine. Scholarship holders receive $10,000 a year during the completion of a standard medical degree at their chosen university. The scholarships are not bonded. Instead, scholarship holders' ties to regional and rural Australia are reinforced through the mentor program, as well as through membership of their university's student rural health club. Each year approximately 100 new scholarships are made available, to maintain the total of 500.

John Flynn Scholarship Scheme :
Established in 1977, the John Flynn Scholarship provides the opportunity for the Scholarship holders to undertake a placement in the same rural or remote community for a minimum of two weeks per year, normally over a four-year period. Students may undertake a placement in a supervised general practice, hospital, Aboriginal Medical Service or other medical facility that provides primary care.
Each scholarship holder is matched with a rural and remote medical practitioner in the placement community. The mentor provides a role model for the scholarship holder, and introduces them to country medical practice and supervising and supporting them during their stay.
